Scam emails which attempt to fool EBay customers into handing over sensitive account information have been sent to thousands of Web users. This practice is known as ‘phishing’. The EBay scam is similar to a scheme targeting customers of various Banks that started doing the rounds last month, which is itself similar to numerous frauds targeting users of PayPal and other large ecommerce firms in the past. There has been an increasing problem of dog fouling on and around Hall Forest Avenue in recent months. Not only is this an unpleasant and unwelcome commodity, it poses a high risk to the health of others living in the area and especially children. Persons in charge of a dog should be aware that under the Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003, a person in charge of a dog is guilty of an offence if they fail to immediately remove the dog’s faeces from any public place and dispose of it properly. A large number of residents raised concerns about the safety of the open building site on Hall Forest Avenue (believed to be developed by Persimmon Home during 2006). Of particular concern were a number of large deep puddles which are filled with debris, and open stacks of building materials which were proving an attraction for children. We recently wrote to all the developers on site expressing our concerns, and we are pleased to report that safety fencing with warning signs has been erected around the site. Many thanks to Bett Homes who are still the owners of this site for acting so quickly on this issue.
Some may be aware that we have been liaising with Greenbelt Group over the poor standards of maintenance for the open areas within the developments (shrub beds, grass verges etc). We are pleased to report that we have been making good progress in this respect following our initial on-site meeting in October. (more…)
The committee have started to prepare a social events calendar for the coming year. We aim to have a range of events that appeal to residents of all ages. Our first event will be an informal gathering at the Torryburn Hotel on Friday 30th December from 7:30pm onwards for a few drinks. It is hoped that many residents will attend, even if just for one or two drinks. (more…)
