Recycling Collections Start Today

The Aberdeenshire councils initiative to encourage us to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill by recycling more starts today.

All Kintore residents have been issued with a plastic box which is used to recycle plastic, glass and metal waste (remember to rinse out any bottles, tins etc before putting them in your box), and a large bag/sack for suitable paper and card waste that can be recycled.

This box and paper sack will be collected today for the first time, and then every two weeks. Wheelie bins will now also only be emptied every two weeks, starting on Wednesday 7th June 2006. Despite the confusing information supplied with the recycling bins, it appears that wheelie bins will also be emptied today.

For more information on what can and cannot be recycled, and what you can do to help reduce waste, visit the Aberdeenshire Council website at: http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/waste/index.asp

The Young Ones are victorious!

After a closely fought quiz night at the Torryburn Hotel, the team known as the “Young Ones” emerged victorious, narrowly beating the Dumbos into 2nd place, followed closely by 4KRS and Total Neeps who tied for joint 3rd place.

The quiz night was a great success, and included a special round of Kintore specific questions, which we are pleased to report were answered very well indeed. The Young Ones will retain the title of “Kintore Summer Festival Quiz Champions” until next year’s event.

  The winning team!

Meeting With Greenbelt

The Residents Association have had an informal meeting with Greenbelt with regard to the maintenance of our common areas.  During an inspection of the common areas, they noted that their contractors had not yet completed all of the remedial actions promised and would get them to complete this sometime in June.

When all of the remedial works have been completed, Greenbelt will then request full payment of any outstanding sums due to them from each affected household for last year’s maintenance. The representives at the meeting could not confirm whether or not this included any discount that was discussed with their Managing Director Alex Middleton last December.  They have also proposed that next year’s maintenance charges be on a 14 month payment arrangement.

The residents association has requested confrimation of the details of these in writing.  We will post these details on our website and include them in our next newsletter when we receive them.

Hallforest Avenue Closed

A section of Hallforest Avenue was closed yesterday by the builders working on the Persimmon Homes site without warning. As far as we are aware, no-one was notified of the closure and how long it will be in place for.

A detour has been put in place, which takes drivers through the Stewart Milne Deers Den development. We would encourage drivers to be very careful when taking this route, as there are often children playing in gardens and pavements adjacent to the road, and they will not be used to volume of traffic.

HFRA Quiz Night

As part of the Kintore Summer Festival, the Residents Association is hosting a Quiz night at the Torryburn Hotel on Monday, 29th May.  Tables are £5 per team with a maximum of 6 people per team.

Please contact Graham on 634652 or email chairman@hallforest.co.uk to reserve a table.  The quiz night will not only test teams general knowledge but it may have a question or two that will test team’s local knowledge of Kintore.  It maybe wise to look through this website to brush up on your local knowledge.

Please come along and support this opportunity to meet other folk in the community and have a great night!
