About the Residents Association
Information last updated by HFRA Chairman on 14 March 2006 (Comment)

What is a Residents Association?

A resident association is a group of people on an estate or in a block who decide to come together to do something about their homes and the area they live in.  An association gives residents a better say in how things are run and allow them to work together rather than as individuals to find solutions to problems affecting their area.  This could include a number of items such as repairs, building works, play facilities, security, social activities or management and maintenance charges.

Why was the Hall Forest Residents Association formed?

The Hall Forest Residents’ Association was set up in 2005 to represent the interests of the residents of new private housing developments situated on and along Hall Forest Avenue in Kintore.

The Association primarily exists to promote and protect the interests of these residents on issues that do not affect the rest of the community within Kintore.  However, being part of the community within Kintore, the Association does seeks to support the rest of the community within Kintore and help protect the environment and community spirit that Kintore residents have enjoyed for many years.

The Association is governed by a committee that is elected by residents of the private housing developments annually at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) held each October.  The Association is non political organisation but cultivates close links with councillors and members of parliament in the hope they will be able to influence our local environment on a county level.

What are the objectives of the Hall Forest Residents Association?

The primary objectives of the Resident's Committee is to:

  • safeguard and promote the interest of residents in the area on matters concerning housing and the environment.

  • to foster good public relations and encourage social activities in conjunction with the community and other organisations in the area.

  • help to improve living conditions, community facilities and services for residents living in and around the groups area.

The Association's aim is to protect and maintain the pleasant surroundings and community spirit within Kintore that can occur as a result intensive housing developments.  These are always under threat whether it be from graffiti artists, insensitive developments, car speedsters, anti-social behaviour and other forms that can detract the area.  The Association's Committee will attempt to control and  minimise these threats to the community in keeping with our aims by working with both the community, developers and the local council.

The Residents’ Association aim is to work for the whole of Kintore, not just the private housing areas, and welcome any input from those outside these areas. If there are any issues that you would like to raise, please feel free to contact any of the committee members.  Alternatively, you will be welcome at one of our meetings that are held at least once a month.  Details of our next meeting can be found under Association Events.

The Association upholds equal opportunities and work towards good relations amongst all members of the community, specifically prohibiting any conduct which discriminates or harasses on grounds of race, religion, disability, political belief, sex or sexual orientation.
