It is important to all
residents living on an estate to be represented by a formally recognised
group. The advantages of being a member of an association far outweigh
the disadvantages.
Here are a few things that
associations work towards:
-
ensuring that your
views are acknowledged by bodies such as developers and the local
Council
-
ensuring that the
needs of your community are being addressed
-
Sharing ideas on how
to improve your surroundings
-
The organising and
monitoring of repairs and maintenance to your surroundings
Resident Association can
also be useful for meeting together to plan ways to tackle problems
which affect you, to campaign for changes that will benefit your estate,
such as play schemes, social activities and special events such as:
To have a forceful
voice, the association must have a strong and active membership. If you are a member
of the Association, you will be able to play a role in issues that
affect both you and the surrounding area that you live in.
Members receive a
newsletter from the Association advising you of
the status of issues being pursued on their behalf by the committee,
news of what is happening in the area and notice of events organised by
the Association. Members
meetings are held frequently that will provide you with the opportunity to
raise issues of concern and provide an active part in decisions that are
made.
If you would like to get involved such as helping at an event or
providing advisory help on issues please come along to one of our
quarterly meetings or contact the
Association Secretary.
